HERITAGE & CAR ARCHIVE / EARLIER CHAPTER
Ford GT40 · prepared for Goodwood
Phil helped with the set-up of a GT40 racing car for Goodwood. A technical workshop sequence shows the systems behind the preparation.
Ford GT40 · workshop and preparation archive
The workshop photographs move through a GT40 racing car in preparation: the open rear body, Ford Racing V8 and exhaust, transaxle, suspension, brake assemblies, cockpit and front cooling. Phil helped with the car’s set-up for Goodwood racing. His role is described as preparation support, not as a claim that he carried out every workshop operation shown.
These details make the practical questions tangible. The car’s systems are photographed together and individually, creating a visual record that can be checked against work orders, set-up sheets and event paperwork when those records are available.
The archive does not yet establish a chassis number, build date, originality category, the precise Goodwood event or an on-track result. Those details can be added when the supporting records have been matched to this car.
